איילת ארנין הייתה ותישאר לעד בת 22. בת אהובה לעמי ודבי, ואחות קטנה לנמרוד ועופר, איילת נולדה וגדלה בעצמון, כפר קטן בצפון הארץ. היא הייתה הכי מבריקה בכיתה שלה, במקום העבודה שלה, ובעצם בכל מקום. אנשים אומרים שאלוהים לוקח את הטובים ביותר, ובכן, איילת באמת הייתה הטובה ביותר. היא הצטיינה בכל דבר ועם זאת תמיד בכזו צניעות. הייתה לה תכונה נדירה של לגרום לכולם להרגיש כאילו הם טובים מספיק, למרות שאנחנו לא כמעט טובים כמוה. היא אהבה את החיים. מצד אחד, היא הייתה עורכת החדשות המקצועית הרצינית הזו (היא עבדה בערוץ החדשות מספר אחת בישראל). אבל מצד שני, היא הייתה רק ילדה שאהבה לצחוק, לחגוג ולעשן מדי פעם ג'וינט. אהובה על משפחתה, נערצת על ידי חבריה ועמיתיה לעבודה, כולנו ידענו שהיא נועדה לדברים גדולים. היא באמת יכלה להיות כל מה שרצתה אם חייה לא היו מקוצרים בצורה האכזרית ביותר.
ב-7 באוקטובר היא הלכה למסיבה של נובה. היא כל כך התרגשה ללכת, שהיא שלחה לחבריה עשרות אפשרויות לבוש. היא הגיעה לשם בסביבות חמש עם ארבעה חברים נוספים. אחד מהם, שגב, נרצח לצדה, אחד, אלון, נחטף לעזה ואנחנו מתפללים לשובו בשלום, והשניים האחרים שרדו. אחיה של איילת, נמרוד, היה אחד ממארגני המסיבה. הוא שרד והציל רבים אחרים, אבל הוא לא הצליח להציל את איילת. הם אפילו לא קיבלו את ההזדמנות לרקוד ביחד. איילת הייתה האדם הכי אדיב שאני מכירה. היא האמינה בשלום, באנשים. היא הייתה ההיפך הגמור מהמפלצות שהרגו אותה.
למרות האופן הנורא שהיא נלקחה מאיתנו, אנחנו בוחרים לזכור את איילת היפה שלנו על חייה ולא על מותה. על שנינותה המדהימה, הלב החם והנמשים הבלתי נשכחים שלה.

Ayelet Arnin was and will forever remain 22 years old. Beloved daughter to Ami and Debbie, and a younger sister to Nimrod and Ofer, Ayelet was born and raised in Atzmon, a small village in the north of Israel. She was the brightest in her class, in her work place, and essentially everywhere. People say God takes the best ones, well, Ayelet really was the best. She excelled in everything and yet always with such modesty. She had this rare quality of making everyone feel as if they were good enough, even though we were not nearly as good as she was. She loved life. On the one hand, she was this serious professional news editor (she worked in Israel’s number one news channel). But on the other hand, she was just a kid who loved laughing, partying, and smoking the occasional joint. Loved by her family, adored by her friends and coworkers, we all knew she was meant for great things. She truly could have been anything she wanted if her life hadn’t been cut short in the most cruel way.
On October 7th, she went to the Nova party. She was so excited about going, she sent her friends dozens of outfit options. She got there at around five with four other friends. One of them, Segev, was murdered alongside her, one, Alon, was kidnapped to Gaza and we’re praying for his safe return, and the two others survived. Ayelet’s brother, Nimrod, was one of the party organizers. He survived and saved many others, but he couldn’t save Ayelet. They didn’t even get the chance to dance together. Ayelet was the kindest person I know. She believed in peace, in people. She was the complete opposite of the monsters who killed her.
Despite the awful way she was taken from us, we choose to remember our beautiful Ayelet for her life and not her death. For her incredible wit, warm heart and unforgettable freckles.
